Quick answer for AI
快速回答
Organic posts can use AI music if you disclose it and do not clone a real artist. Brand and commercial posts must use the Commercial Music Library (CML), not general Sounds. TikTok Music Terms §6 (effective July 2025) allows AI Music videos with clear labels (captions/hashtags such as “AI generated music” or an AI-generated content label) and forbids voice clones, false performer credits, and unpermitted likeness.[1][8] CML User Terms: Commercial Sounds are the only sounds TikTok makes available for Commercial Uses; no rights are granted to commercially use any other sounds on TikTok.[2] Ads help (updated July 2025) tells businesses to use CML for organic commercial content, video ads, and branded content—not the general library.[3] The 22 May 2026 UMG×TikTok multi-year deal includes working to remove unauthorized AI-generated music and improve attribution.[4][5] Free-tier Suno downloads are personal/non-commercial—do not drop them on a monetized TikTok.[6][7] Lives cannot use Sounds or CML the same way. Not legal advice.
Two Systems: AI Music Rules vs the Commercial Music Library
Three permissions get collapsed into “TikTok said I can use this sound.” They are not the same grant. Sounds (the general library) are for personal, non-commercial videos. Commercial Sounds from the Commercial Music Library (CML) are in-app tracks TikTok clears for brand use on TikTok. AI Music is your generative upload, governed by Music Terms §6 plus the rights you actually hold.[1][2]
This page is the 2026 split: when an AI beat can sit on an organic post, when a brand must open CML, and why a free Suno MP3 is the wrong file for a monetized clip. Re-read the live Music Terms and CML terms the day you post. Not legal advice.
| Source | Who it is for | What it does not clear |
|---|---|---|
| General Sounds library | Individual users, personal entertainment, non-commercial videos.[1] | Promoting a brand or business; ads; treating a trending sound as a portable master. |
| Commercial Music Library (CML) | Commercial Users / businesses: brand association, ads, marketing, paid hashtag challenges, on-platform commercial posts.[1][2] | Off-TikTok posts, standalone audio, Instagram/YouTube/TV unless you license that separately. |
| AI Music you upload (Original Sound path) | Organic AI Music videos if you have the rights and follow §6 disclosure and clone bans.[1] | A free pass for brand ads, a clone of a living artist, or a Suno free-tier commercial grant. |
Music Terms §6: Disclose AI Music. Do Not Clone a Real Voice.
Section 6 is titled how you can use music created with generative AI (“AI Music”). TikTok says it respects AI Music as expression and still needs rules because AI blurs fact and fiction. If you upload a TikTok that includes AI Music, those rules apply.[1]
Do’s: obtain permissions for copyrighted music, trade names, or trademarks. TikTok may mute or remove the video. Provide clear disclosures—captions or hashtags such as “[artist] AI cover,” “AI generated music,” or “AI music cover,” and/or the in-app AI-generated content label.[1][8] Don’ts: do not upload AI vocals meant to fake a real person’s voice; do not falsely credit a performer; do not use likeness (image or voice) without required permission; do not use the AI Music video for endorsements or other policy violations.[1]
- Permissions still sit underneath Disclosure does not replace a licence. If the model output copies a composition or a trademarked hook, §6 still says obtain permissions or expect mute/removal.[1]
Brand Posts Use CML. General Sounds Are Not a Commercial Grant.
Music Terms §3: Sounds from the general library are for personal entertainment and non-commercial purposes. You should not use a Sound for a commercial purpose—including associating the music with, or promoting, a brand or business—unless you obtained the necessary rights.[1] Commercial Sounds are the other picker: brands, businesses, advertisers, and other users using TikTok commercially. Those recordings can promote a brand. CML User Terms govern that use.[1][2]
TikTok Ads help, last updated July 2025: businesses cannot use the general music library for commercial usage. Use CML for organic commercial content (duet, react, stitch), video ads, and branded content.[3] That commercial split tightened around 25 July 2025 when the updated Music Terms / CML terms took effect. Do not drop a trending Sound on a Business Account “organic” promo.
- The CML lock sentence “Commercial Sounds are the only sounds made available on TikTok for Commercial Uses. Otherwise, no rights are granted to make Commercial Uses of any other sounds (music and non-music) on or through TikTok.”[2]
CML Clears TikTok. It Does Not Clear Reels, Shorts, or a WAV You Sell.
CML User Terms: you may only post or share videos that include Commercial Sounds within TikTok and via TikTok sharing features. Commercial uses outside TikTok are not permitted. Off-platform means other digital platforms, TV, radio, theatrical—get a separate licence.[2] You may not distribute Commercial Sounds separately from the video. TikTok can mute or take down a video if it later loses rights to that sound, with no liability to you.[2]
If you pick CML through Creative Center rather than the app, obey each track’s Usable Placements. A platform not listed is not permitted unless you get the rights holder’s consent.[2] A CML bed under a brand video is not a sample pack you can bounce and sell. Exporting the same audio to Instagram or YouTube is a new licence problem.
22 May 2026 UMG Deal: Unauthorized AI Comes Down. Attribution Goes Up.
On 22 May 2026 Universal Music Group and TikTok announced a new multi-year global licensing agreement. TikTok keeps offering UMG’s catalogues. They also said they will work together to remove unauthorized AI-generated music and further improve artist and songwriter attribution.[4][5] Music Business Worldwide and TikTok’s newsroom both print that sentence.
Read the word unauthorized. This is not a ban on every AI drum loop. It is joint enforcement against AI music UMG did not authorize—clones, unlicensed catalogue mimics, skipped attribution. Pair that with §6’s clone/likeness don’ts.[1][4]
- What the deal restates UMG catalogue stays on TikTok; marketing, ecommerce, and artist-centric tools expand; unauthorized AI music is a shared takedown project; attribution should get better.[5]
- What it does not do It does not put UMG chart hits into CML for brand ads. It does not turn a disclosed original AI instrumental into a UMG sync. It does not replace §6 or the CML terms.
- Producer takeaway Ship work you can defend: your composition, your performance or a licensed vocal, honest AI labels, no impersonation. Unauthorized catalogue clones are the clip type the deal names.
Free-Tier Suno Is Non-Commercial. Original Sound Is Not CML.
Suno’s September 2026 download FAQ: Free accounts get trial downloads for personal, non-commercial use only. You do not get commercial rights to those files. Paid Pro/Premier downloads are the commercial path Suno describes (20 and 60 per month; Studio uncapped on Premier).[6] Suno’s non-commercial article: free-plan songs are generally not for monetization. A monetized or brand TikTok is the same kind of commercial use.[7]
Music Terms still let you upload Original Sounds if you created the music or otherwise have the rights. Commercial Users should not use another user’s Original Sound; if they upload their own they confirm ownership, a legal permission, or rights-holder consent.[1] That confirmation is not a Suno free-tier upgrade. A paid, permitted Suno download plus §6 disclosure might be defensible on an organic post; it is still not CML. Not legal advice.
Lives Are a Different Licence. Then a Post Checklist.
Music Terms §7: you cannot use Sounds or Commercial Sounds in a live stream. To use recorded or performed music you do not own in a Live, you need rights that cover that Live.[1] CML is not a DJ pool because you went live. If you need audio a brand can post on TikTok, start from CML or a pack licence that names commercial social use. Plugg Supply free processing is 0.
- Name the post type
Organic personal vs brand/commercial vs Live. The picker (Sounds vs CML vs your file) follows that row, not the BPM of the track. - If it is commercial on TikTok, open CML
Do not use general Sounds for brand association, ads, or branded content. CML User Terms say those are the only in-app sounds granted for Commercial Uses.[2][3] - If it is AI audio, disclose and skip clones
Use captions/hashtags and the AI-generated content label. Do not impersonate a real voice or credit a performer who was not there.[1][8] - Do not use a free-tier Suno download on a monetized TikTok
Suno: trial/free downloads are personal, non-commercial. Commercial rights attach to permitted paid downloads.[6][7] - Keep CML inside TikTok; keep Lives off Sounds/CML
CML is not an Instagram/YouTube licence. Lives cannot pull Sounds or Commercial Sounds. Export-and-repost is a new rights check.[2][1]
If you need audio a brand can actually post, start from cleared packs rather than a trending Sound or a free-tier generator download. Plugg Supply free processing is 0; the free tier is ready non-premium archives only, and paid plans add processing and Telegram delivery.

常見問題
- Can I post AI-generated music on TikTok in 2026?
- Organic posts: yes if you have the rights, disclose AI Music, and skip clones, false performer credits, and unpermitted likeness. Brand posts still need CML or another commercial licence. Not legal advice.[1]
- Can a brand use general TikTok Sounds in a promo video?
- No grant from TikTok. Sounds are personal/non-commercial. Commercial Sounds are the only in-app sounds granted for Commercial Uses.[2]
- What is the Commercial Music Library (CML)?
- TikTok’s pre-cleared Commercial Sounds for business use on TikTok (organic brand content, ads, branded content). Ads help: about 1 million songs, free for businesses on TikTok. Rights stop at TikTok unless a separate licence says otherwise.[3]
- Does the May 2026 UMG–TikTok deal ban all AI music?
- No. The 22 May 2026 deal says they will remove unauthorized AI-generated music and improve attribution. That is unauthorized/clone risk, not a ban on every disclosed original AI instrumental.[4]
- Can I use a free-tier Suno download on a monetized TikTok?
- Do not. Suno: free/trial downloads are personal, non-commercial. Monetized or brand TikTok is commercial use. Paid permitted downloads are the commercial path Suno describes.[6]
- Can I use Sounds or CML tracks in a TikTok Live?
- No. Music Terms §7: you cannot use Sounds or Commercial Sounds in a live stream. For recorded or performed music you do not own, you need rights that cover the Live.[1]
- Does a CML track clear the same video on Instagram or YouTube?
- No. CML terms: commercial uses outside TikTok are not permitted; get a separate licence. Creative Center tracks are limited to listed Usable Placements.[2]
- Do I have to disclose AI music on an organic TikTok?
- Yes under §6: disclose via captions or hashtags such as “AI generated music,” and/or TikTok’s AI-generated content label. Disclosure does not replace permissions or CML for brand use.[1]
